Men’s tennis schedule published – University of North Carolina Athletics

CHAPEL HILL—The University of North Carolina announced its 2022 men’s tennis schedule, the Tar Heels announced on Monday.

Carolina, ranked 14th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s pre-season national team standings, will start the season this week at the MLK Invitational, hosted by Georgia Tech, on January 14, 15 and 16.

The UNC’s first double-match is at home at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center against Bucknell on Sunday, January 23.

The Tar Heels will defend their 2021 ITA National Team Indoor Championship title from Chapel Hill. They will once again host the ITA launch weekend, this year on January 29 and 30. UNC will host Northwestern on Saturday 29th, then meet up with Arizona State or Ohio State on Sunday 30th. If the Tar Heels win both of their games this weekend, they will advance to the Nationals. in room ITA in Seattle, Washington, from February 18 to 21.

The Carolina Atlantic Coast Conference roster includes home dates with Virginia Tech, Virginia, Louisville, Notre Dame, Clemson and Georgia Tech and road games in Miami, Florida State, Duke, Boston College, Wake Forest and North Carolina State.

In addition to the ITA launch weekend and the opener against Bucknell, UNC will also host non-conference home games against Wofford, NC Central, South Carolina and Columbia.

The 2022 ACC Men’s and Women’s Championships will be held in Rome, Georgia, April 21-24.

The Tar Heels return several key members of last year’s squad that finished the season sixth nationally and reached the knockout stages of the NCAA tournament, including seniors. Benjamin Sigouin, Brian Cernoch and Mac Kiger, junior Rinky Hijikata and second Logan zapp, among others.

The Head Coach Sam paul is also returning for his 29th season at the helm of the Tar Heel program. He starts the season with a career record of 523-213, and he has more wins than any active CCA coach.
