PARIS: Naomi Osaka escaped the top five of the WTA rankings on Monday while Simona Halep, another former world number one, continued her slide, also losing three places.
Quadruple Grand Slam champion Osaka fell from fifth to eighth place as Halep, who married boyfriend Toni Iuruc last week in a civil ceremony in her hometown of Constanta, fell to 14th place .
Ashleigh Barty remains in the lead and Roland Garros winner Barbora Krejcikova peaked in her career with fifth place.
Danish teenager Clara Tauson moved up 18 places to 52nd after winning her second title of the year in Luxembourg.
Italy’s Jasmine Paolini went from 87th to 64th after her first WTA title in Portoroz, Slovenia.
