Former British tennis star Johanna Konta announces pregnancy and flaunts baby bump
Former British No.1 tennis player Johanna Konta is expecting her first child with husband Jackson Wade.
Konta, recently retired, announced the news on her social media accounts on Monday evening.
After battling a long knee injury, the former world No. 4 ended her career last December. Just days after announcing her retirement, Konta married her longtime partner, Wade, among family and friends in London.
“I’m baking my own little muffin right now,” Konta wrote along with the photo that showed off her baby bump.
Johanna has four WTA titles to her name, her biggest title being at the Miami Open in 2017, where she beat Simona Halep, Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki in the last three rounds to win the Masters 1000 title.
Johanna also won the 2016 Stanford, Sydney 2017 and Nottingham 2021 trophies – the latter her first home title at a tournament where she had lost two previous finals. Additionally, she was a two-time WTA 1000 runner-up, at Beijing 2016 and Rome 2019.
A three-time Grand Slam semi-finalist in her career, Konta was the first Briton since Virginia Wade in 1978 to reach the last four at Wimbledon in 2017.
