Tennis news – Alexander Zverev heads to Cincinnati Open final victory over Andrey Rublev

Alexander Zverev did a light job on Andrey Rublev in the Cincinnati Open final, winning 6-2 6-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Rublev had passed Daniil Medvedev on Saturday in a moody match, while Germany’s Zverev also pulled off his own return to the semi-finals, beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets.

Third seed Zverev was in no mood to hold back as he quickly took the lead over his Russian opponent, winning first frame 6-2 as he looked to continue his medal form Olympic before the US Open.

Rublev struggled to hold back his opponent with a much less dominant serve play and particular difficulties on his second serve.

Zverev refused to let go and took a 5-1 lead and, while Rublev put up a brief final resistance to smash his opponent for the first time and move the second set to 5-3, Zverev continued for victory.
